ABOUT.
Hi friends!
My name is Nicole. I’m an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mama, and wife to my high school sweetheart of more than 15 years, Justin. We live less than 10 miles from the shore in a quiet Florida beach town, chasing after Jesus, babies, an old hound dog, and some wild dreams.
Come to our home on any given day and you’re likely to find me sprawled out among piles of scattered children’s books, hosting praise music dance parties, hanging holiday-themed handprint crafts across the walls, or supervising tiny tip-toes atop kitchen stools, stirring bubbling sourdough starters. There I’ll be, in all my wild glory, racing to scribble creative ideas across post-it notes as inspiration strikes and checking back in with half-finished writing projects from the margins of motherhood.
Life hasn’t always looked this lighthearted behind my writing. My first child, Savannah Jane, received a cardiac diagnosis just 16 weeks into pregnancy, marking my motherhood journey forever. I spent the next 3 years studying healing in the midnight hours, learning medical advocacy, navigating a heart transplant waiting list through a global pandemic, and raising a precious child to know Her Savior when she met Him face to face- much sooner than I ever expected that would be. After 2 years thrust back into some version of life and work before motherhood- as though loss can just rip the role from your arms and pretend it’s not also imprinted in your DNA- I re-entered motherhood and returned home with the birth of a second daughter, Charlotte Jean. I was scarred, softer but somehow also stronger, sillier but more sure of myself than ever before, ready to speak up on behalf of God’s children again.
I aim to bring that balance to the work I do now, serving mamas of all sorts here.
The topics you’ll find on this blog reflect the lessons I’ve learned and the passions I’ve discovered in the years since Savannah made me a Mama: motherhood- including nuances of medical motherhood, the ministry of home-making, healthier living, spiritual formation, and home education. You’ll also surely find reflections on suffering (including grief), on God’s grace and redemption, and on soaking up the simple joys of life with my still-growing family.
If you have craved a haven where you can be intentional and reflective yet lighthearted and forgiving…if you have wanted to focus on missional motherhood and still remain free to laugh in the moment… you’re in the right place.
For more on the topic of medical motherhood, my first book, Arise: Battling Your Child’s Diagnosis With Faith, will be available for purchase Winter 2026. For now, you can preview the book’s introduction: Drafted by downloading here.
